About the IBZ Mannheim

The University of Mannheim owns two Guesthouses with apartments for international scholars of the university. They are located across from the Mannheim Baroque Palace, the main building of the university.

The Guesthouse in Mannheim’s square L2 houses the International Meeting Center (IBZ) which includes a common area and a kitchen. The IBZ in L2 was established in 1982 with funding from the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation and the Ekkehard Foundation of the Land of Baden-Württemberg.

The Guesthouse in Mannheim’s square M2 was given to the University of Mannheim as a gift in 1994. A special feature about the IBZ Mannheim is its affiliation with the Welcome Center of the University of Mannheim. The Welcome Center is a EURAXESS Service Centre for international scholars and supports them and their families in all non-academic concerns.
