About the guest houses in Erlangen
The Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg (FAU)possesses three guest houses< with 42 enclosed apartments and 8 more apartments in a separate housing estate; so we can offer 50 furnished apartments for our national and international academic guests.
The oldest guest house (Bergstraße 13) was built in 1975 with subsidies of the VolkswagenFoundation and was restored in 2010 with the help of the Federal Government.
The guest houses in Erwin-Rommel-Straße 61 and 63> were built in 1979 and 1985 with the help of the Alexander Humboldt-Foundation and restored in 2011 with subsidies of the same foundation. A helpful benefactor, Mrs. Prof. Helga Schüßler, provided the backing for the interior decoration. The Faculty of Engineering, parts of the Faculty of Sciences and the Sports Center are within walking distance.
In 1999 Prof. Helga Schüßler and her husband, Prof. Hans Wilhelm Schüßler, dedicated the UniKate (Carl-Thiersch-Straße 5). It was built by carefully restoring and furnishing a landmarked house; nearby is the Röthelheim-Campus with facilities of different faculties, with different markets, restaurants and doctor’s offices.
In a separate housing estate (Schulstraße 13, Uttenreuth) situated eastwardly near to Erlangen are 8 more apartments available; in the groundfloor you can find a super market.
We, Mrs. Ursula Ritzer and Mrs. Sabine Del Alcázar, the team of the guesthouses, would be delighted to welcome you in Erlangen.
