About the Guest House
Welcome to Rothenbaumchaussee 34!
In the immediate vicinity of the university campus and the Hamburg-Dammtor ICE train station, the guest house team welcomes you to a beautifully renovated neoclassical building dating back to 1889.
In 41 apartments, 4 studios and 5 family apartments of various sizes many visiting scholars from numerous countries have found a pleasant and comfortable home for their stay in Hamburg since the foundation of the “Stiftung Weltweite Wissenschaft (Worldwide Science Foundation)” in 1963.
On the ground floor of the building is the International Meeting Center (IBZ), a meeting place for scientific and cultural events and the exchange of guests in the guest house. The guest house is run by the non-profit Worldwide Science Foundation, which celebrated its 60th anniversary in 2023. Its mission is to promote the international exchange of academics on behalf of the University of Hamburg by offering guest apartments and conference rooms.
Rental Conditions
An apartment can be rented for a stay of up to 6 months.

One-room apartment from €782 / Studio from €1,389 /Apartment from €2,138
The apartments are particularly suitable for families with children and are equipped with washing machines. For other guests, washing machines and dryers are available in the basement.
Event Spaces at the International Meeting Center (IBZ)
The guesthouse offers event spaces available for scientific, cultural, and artistic events until 10 PM.
The rental fee for the lecture room starts at €188 for designated time slots (half-day or full-day).
The "Berliner Zimmer" can be rented from €119.

- One room apartment sizes : 26 – 38m²,
Studio Sizes : 50 – 62m²,
flat sizes: 85 – 87m² - Kitchen / pantry and bathroom with shower
- Washing machine and dryer
- Weekly cleaning includes a towel change, bed linen is changed every 14 days.
- Wi-Fi/LAN (fiber optic), digital TV connection
- Lounge on the 4th floor
- No pets allowed
- Payment: Cash, bank transfer, and card payment (debit and credit).
