About the IBZ Kiel
The International Begegnungszentrum (IBZ), which opened on November 1, 1989, became the second Guest House of Christian-Albrechts-Universität. Its location is one of the most beautiful in Kiel, directly on the fjord and still within walking distance of the centre of the city. All apartments have an amazing view of the fjord, and just a stone’s throw away are cruise ships and huge Baltic Sea ferries. The uppermost level of the IBZ, where the lounge, TV room, and library are located, offers a superb panoramic view of the fjord and the harbour.
The neighbouring “Seeburg” was the first student refectory building in Germany and still houses a cafeteria, a restaurant, and a bistro. The art museum and the university rowing centre are also nearby, and the University Hospital of Schleswig-Holstein as well as the Leibniz Institute of Marine Sciences (IFM-GEOMAR) are just a short walk away. The IBZ has good access to Kiel’s public transportation
